A 25-year mortgage banker, Scott captained the original campaign to amend the Texas Constitution to authorize reverse mortgages in the state in 1999, when he founded the Texas Association of Reverse Mortgage Lenders. He later led three additional successful efforts to expand reverse mortgages in Texas through the constitutional amendment process. A former originator, Scott closed the very first reverse mortgage loan in Texas in 2000.
In addition to his work in the Lone Star State, Scott has also testified numerous times about reverse mortgage lending before the legislatures of California, Arkansas and Minnesota to help craft legislation to protect senior homeowners around the country. Scott got his start in the mortgage business in Austin in 1993, later becoming President of the Austin Mortgage Bankers Association. In 2010, Scott was elected the youngest President in the 100-year history of the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association.
